Unilock Standard Vs MVR Landscaping Standard
We at MVR Landscaping believe it's better to do the job right the first time, and have less worry down the road. We go above and beyond with our gravel foundation depths (this is the most important part of any build)
We warranty all of our work that we built the base for.
If you do a base depth comparison we go above the recommendations of Unilock. It may cost a fraction of the job more in gravel and disposal of dirt but the job lasts many years longer in the end.
Unilock Standard Foundation Depths

Walkways and patios do not carry any significant loads, therefore the base is typically 6 to 8 inches (30 cm) in established areas, and 8 to 10 inches in newer developments. For vehicular applications, such as driveways, a 10 inch base is generally sufficient in established areas. In newer developments, however, a 12 to 14 inch gravel base may be required.
MVR Landscaping Foundation Depths
Walkways and Patios we dig a minimum of 12"inches. We add 4"-6" more in new developments or recommend waiting till the following year.
For Commercial and Vehicular applications we dig a minimum of 18" to ensure a long lasting foundation, prevents stones from shifting and ultimately preventing polymeric sand from cracking and allowing weeds.
